Bert Kalisch Bert Kalisch is the President and Chief Executive Officer for the American Public Gas Association. Since Bert assumed this role in 2004, APGA is placing its focus on advocacy efforts on Capitol Hill and at the federal regulatory agencies, increased membership in each of his five years, enhanced communications and information exchange between and among members, improved its financial stability, relocated its office to Washington, D.C., and created two new foundations that provide greater value to APGA members. Bert also serves as the President and CEO for the APGA Insurance Group (IG), the APGA Research Foundation, and the APGA Security and Integrity Foundation. Since 1994, Bert worked on numerous energy policy issues such as market transparency, energy markets, pipeline safety, energy efficiency, and other matters relating to the natural gas industry. Prior to joining APGA in 1999, he served as Senior Counsel and Director for the American Gas Association in its Government Relations Section. Before entering into the energy industry, Bert practiced law in Northern Virginia. Bert received a law degree (JD) from George Mason University (1988), a Masters of Science in Business Administration (MSBA) from Boston University (1982), and baccalaureate degrees (BA) in General Science and Environmental Studies from Coe College (1980). He also holds both the Certified Association Executive (CAE, 2002) and Institute for Organization Management (IOM, 2004) designations, the only two professional certifications for association management. Bert lives in Alexandria, Virginia, with his wife Eleni.
